Maternity Belt
For this project, we used speculative design to imagine how the future might change based on current research. The 'Maternity Belt' explores the social and ethical issues surrounding women's fertility. Why is there an expectation for women to have children by a certain age? And will this expectation change in the future?
Maternity Belt
The 'Maternity Belt' is a tool that helps older pregnant women reduce pain and joint discomfort. In this scenario, the design presents an image that we are not accustomed to when thinking about a pregnant woman.
The woman, who no longer works, can fully focus on the pregnancy and the well being of a new child, unlike many women who continue to work during their pregnancy until leave.

When the older pregnant woman wears the 'Maternity Belt,' she can adjust it to fit her own body. The harness contains multiple soft cushions that provide support for the upper body. Additionally, the harness helps relieve the pregnant belly, lifting it up while also achieving a more upright posture.
