Based on interviews in Breda, I collected data about the citizens. How are they experiencing their neighborhood? And is there a collective connection among them? In the App 'Ginneken wandelt' (Ginneken walks) I translated their needs in an app.

Walking towards a
profound community.
Ginneken, a district in the south of Breda, boasts a unique “village in a city” community with a strong connection to nature. Despite the residents’ frequent use of the term ‘cozy,’ interviews revealed a nuanced perspective, with many feeling a need for more practicality and down-to-earth interactions. My app aims to bridge these gaps, facilitating deeper connections among neighbors. Nature plays a pivotal role, as the nearby forests offer residents a retreat from their intense daily lives, fostering a sense of calm and authenticity. The app capitalizes on this connection, allowing users to find walking buddies within a 1 km radius, send walking requests, and share recommendations based on shared interests. The activities page provides insights into neighbors’ experiences, photos, and routes, each tagged for easy filtering based on preferences like relaxation, exploration, or a nature focus.
